Al Sharpton: Mark Cuban Remark ‘Distasteful,’ But Not on Par with Sterling (Mediaite)
Al Sharpton ended his show Friday night by defending Mark Cuban over the remarks he made about how everyone, himself included, is a little bit prejudiced. Sharpton said that unlikeDonald Sterling, Cuban hasn’t acted in a discriminatory way professionally, and so should not be punished for expressing his opinion.
And 3/4ths of the people who voted in Sharpton’s online poll agreed Cuban shouldn’t be punished. Sharpton explained there’s a “qualitative difference between what Cuban said, as distasteful as it is, ’cause it is profiling on whites and blacks” and the actually racist comments made by Donald Sterling. And, furthermore, unlike with Cuban, “there was no introspection” on Sterling’s part.
