Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY), who is chair of the House Democratic Conference, denied that people who are protesting the Trump administration are being paid, and claimed that Democrats have never accused people who spoke out against ObamaCare as paid rabble-rousers.

Crowley told reporters some in Trump’s circles are “suggesting that people are paid protesters, that they’re being paid to go to these meetings.” Crowley then said: “I mean what a dismissal of democracy. During the height of the debate on the Affordable Care Act, Democrats never accused the tea party people of, of the folks who were speaking out against the Affordable Care Act, as paid rabble-rousers.”

Crowley’s claim that Democrats never accused tea partiers of being paid to protest ObamaCare is incorrect.
