Dems Ratcheting Up Vitriol in Illinois Gubernatorial Race

‘Let’s not play racial politics to the point of being stupid’

The Democratic spin machine is out in full force demanding Illinois GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner apologize for shaking hands with a man wearing a Confederate flag patch, WLS-CHI reports.

Rauner said he does not condone or support the Confederate flag but cannot always control who he shakes hands with in a crowd.

Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis jumped at the opportunity to cast Rauner as a racist, telling WLS-CHI “you are judged by your associates and judged by to whom you choose to associate.”

Rauner supporter and publisher of N’Digo Magazine Hermene Hartman indirectly addressed Lewis’s criticism. “For the political powers to be to come after Bruce in that regard I think is kind of silly,” she said. “Let’s not play racial politics to the point of being stupid.”
