Justin Timberlake Jabs Donald Sterling During Billboard Music Awards (Mediaite)
Justin Timberlake accepted the Top Artist statue at last night’s Billboard Music Awards with a short video message from a stop on his world tour. Joined by his crew of dancers, Timberlake thanked “everybody on earth” for helping him take home the prize… except for one person.
It’s not a competition, but if it was, I won!” Timberlake said, laughing, after calling out his fellow competition. “And guess what? I’m okay with that. I think I’m okay with that.”
“I want to thank everybody on Earth,” he said. “Everybody on Earth, except, except Donald Sterling. I don’t want to.” At that point, the singer stopped dancing and walked out of the frame.
The anti-Donald Sterling reference has become a bit of a trend at award shows over the last couple of weeks, with rapper Pitbull welcoming everyone to the iHeartRadio Music Awards earlier this month, except for the disgraced L.A. Clippers owner.
