MSNBC’s Velshi: Mnuchin, Aided by GOP Senators, Engaging in a ‘Remarkable Rewriting of History’

‘This is just a guy who very legally made money off of the kind of thing that has set so many Americans back’

EXCERPT:

VELSHI: "And Mnuchin is suggesting that — he actually sounds like a very sympathetic character today, talking about how he and OneWest Bank and IndyMack Bank, big players in the foreclosure game in Nevada and southern California, were really working hard to keep people in their homes. It is a remarkable rewriting of history that is going on in that Senate chamber aided by Republican senators who are making it seem like what happened then was okay. And this is just a guy who very legally made money off of the kind of thing that has set so many Americans back, innocent Americans who didn’t cause the financial crisis. Otherwise he is actually doing okay in the hearing. It wasn’t otherwise contentious. He is answering questions about the economy quite effectively, but where he is getting stumped is on the fact that he chose to buy a bank that was in trouble at the height of the financial crisis, a bank that subsequently foreclosed on thousands and thousands of people. And I don’t know what it’s going to do for the Democrats to keep making the point, but they continue to try to make the point that he is one of those guy who made money off of the misfortune of so many Americans."
