NYT Reports Rick Perry Surprised He’d Be in Charge of Nukes as Energy Secretary

‘In his confirmation hearing today, Rick Perry is expected to tout his experience running Texas, one of the world’s biggest economies’

EXCERPT:

BRZEZINSKI: "Perry is likely to face questions over his previous calls to get rid of the energy department as well as his commitment to renewable energy sources but 'The New York Times' piece indicates that the governor may not have fully grasped what he was taking on. The paper reports , quote, 'Mr. Perry gladly accepted, believing he was taking on a role as global ambassador for the American oil and gas industry that he had long championed in his home state. In the days after, Mr. Perry discovered that he would be no such thing — that in fact, if confirmed by the Senate he would become a steward of a vast national security complex he knew almost nothing about, caring for the most fearsome weapons on the planet, the United States’ nuclear arsenal.'"
