SUPERVILLE: “On another subject, a couple of years ago Meryl Streep was at the White House for the Presidential Medal of Freedom. President talked a lot about how much he loves her. Does he think her speech last night at the Golden Globes was appropriate, that that ceremony was the appropriate venue to talk about Donald Trump?”
EARNEST: “I haven’t spoken to the President about her speech. I didn’t see her speech but I certainly read about it. It seemed to get plenty of attention. And I think what I can say is she clearly was delivering a thoughtful, carefully considered message that she believes in deeply, and it seemed to me to be a fairly straightforward exercise of her First Amendment rights as a citizen of United States.”
