Michael McFaul, former U.S. ambassador to Russia, talks with Joy-Ann Reid about the new revelations reported by NBC News that Vladimir Putin was personally involved in the hacking of the U.S. election.
 

JOY ANN REID: "NBC News is reporting tonight that Putin acted as part of a vendetta against Hillary Clinton that became an effort to portray the U.S. as no longer a credible global leader. Wow. Joining me now is Michael McFaul, a former U.S. ambassador to Russia... I want to start by asking you to react to this news that Vladimir Putin --former KGB agent and now the leader of Russia-- was personally involved in directing the hacking to help get Donald Trump elected."

MCFAUL: "My first reaction is this is great investigative reporting. Exactly what we need to deal with this crisis right now. My second reaction is there is nothing surprising about it to me... In Russia, a country run by one man, there is no question in my mind that he would have been involved... What is surprising is that we have evidence to support this allegation..."
