Tuesday on election night, Donald Trump came through like a wrecking ball and knocked down the Democrats’ famous “blue wall.”

Throughout the campaign, the media touted Hillary Clinton’s blue wall, a collection of states like Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin that have voted Democrat in the past several presidential elections.

Trump won swing states like Florida, Ohio, and North Carolina on election night, but what propelled him to victory was winning three of the so-called blue wall states. Trump won Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. These states have not voted for a Republican in the White House since the 1980s. Back in 2008 and 2012, President Obama won all three states by sizable margins.
