Bryan Cranston, three-time Emmy Award winner for his role as Walter White on Breaking Bad, is currently embodying President Lyndon B. Johnson eight times a week in the Broadway playAll the Way. In a new interview with Yahoo News’Katie Couric, Cranston said his character would approve of much of what President Barack Obama is doing, especially when it comes to executive orders.

“I think our president is actually doing something now with the executive orders that is something that Lyndon Johnson would definitely do if he ran up against a brick wall,” Cranston said. “He would just push it through, because it was something that he believed in and he knew it was the right thing for him to do.”

In addition, Cranston said he believes the Affordable Care Act is “fantastic,” while admitting that “there are problems” with it. “Anything worth while is going to go through a growing pains period,” he said. “But this is his legacy and I think it’s a great one because I don’t think that basic health care should be a privilege of the rich. It should be a right to all.”

At that moment, he caught himself, remarking, “it sounds like I’m running for office.”

“I was going to say, I think you may be getting a call from the White House saying ‘You’re hired,’” Couric replied.
