Morgan Wright: If What Yahoo! Did Isn’t Overly Broad, ‘then Privacy as We Know Is Dead’

‘This is going to be an overreach’

WRIGHT: "This would be the equivalent of the FBI walking through the entire neighborhood searching everybody’s house looking for an item in a crime. i mean, at some this does tend to be overly broad. If this is not overly broad then privacy as we know it is dead. You just might as well take all your passwords off, open it up, so that the government can see everything you do. I still want law and order to defend America but at some point I think that this is going to be an overreach that's going to have not just technical implications and pushback from technology complications. It's going to have political complications. You know, we've got two more presidential debates. It'd be interesting to see how the candidates respond to this use of government power."
