JACKSON: “You yourself, Maureen, have been the recipient of a Donald Trump zinger. He called you wacky in that tweet a month or so ago. You’re clearly a master of getting under his skin, so what advice would you give Hillary Clinton about how to go after Trump tonight?”
DOWD: “Well, I think she should the do — you know, remember when Tina Fey did ‘Bitch is the New Black’? I think she should not be afraid of being a tough and strong woman. That’s what people like about her. She’s always worried about humanizing herself, presenting herself as a mother and grandmother. But I think people really like it, like the sunglasses and the blackberry, where she’s very tough. And in Zach Galifianakis’s ‘Between Two Ferns’ she was giving him that kind of maternal glare. She could try and convey the idea that Donald Trump is a child although that’s kind of an insult to children.”
