Stavridis: ‘The Most Dangerous Country in the World ... Without Question, Is N. Korea’

‘I think the next president is going to have to deal with North Korea on his or her watch’

STAVRIDIS: "Andrea, I often say the most dangerous country in the world is not Russia, it’s not Iran, it’s what’s happening in Syria, the most dangerous country in the world, in my view, without question, is North Korea. They already have nuclear weapons, probably 10 or more. Their well on their way to miniaturizing them. They are creating the ability to launch missiles from submarines. So they can surreptitiously approach our coast, and worst of all, they’re led by a dictator in complete command of a society who is young, unstable, and has no absolute sense of where to go. In terms of what we should do about it, the road to Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea runs through Beijing. We have got to get China completely on side in enforcing these sanctions. We also need to use cyber. We need intelligence and information probably over time, we’re going to need special forces. I think the next president is going to have to deal with North Korea on his or her watch."
