Hughley on Kaepernick: ‘Football Is an Escape, and Black People Oftentimes Don’t Get Escape from Reality’

‘There is nothing more American than silence’

HUGHLEY: "I think that ultimately football is an escape and black people oftentimes don't get an escape from reality. Reality confronts us all the time. There's no Sunday off where we get to pretend like things aren't the same. Standing for the pledge of allegiance or the national anthem is a distraction. We get to pretend like we're all together and oftentimes we live in two different Americas."
