Dem. Rep.: Reporters Interrupt Obama Because He's Black

Rep. Cummings says Obama and Holder 'are doing an outstanding job'

Appearing Friday on MSNBC, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) said the reason President Obama was cut off in his press conference is because he is black: “What I believe is happening is that there has been a disrespect, not only for the president but for the office of the president. And that is very, very alarming. We saw it when Joe Wilson called the president a liar. Our country is better than that. And I think a lot of the same thing is happening with our attorney-general. We’ve got to, you know, these are two men who are doing an outstanding job. But there are got folks who just don’t like it. And they’ve never treated other folks like this, but here they are doing it to these two gentlemen.” BASHIR: “Is it because they’re both black?” CUMMINGS: “I think that has something to do with it. But I think the other thing is that they purely disagree with their politics.”
