Debbie Wasserman Schultz: Staffers Near Starvation Due to Sequester (Examiner)

While at a House Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee hearing earlier this week, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., suggested the budget cuts in the sequester deal are so bad that her staff is near starvation, the Washington Times reported Friday.

According to Wasserman Schultz, prices in restaurants on the House side of Congress have risen so much that staffers who are paid anywhere from $60,000 to $160,000 per year are allegedly being priced out of a good meal.

Breitbart.com's Mike Flynn said that in the Cannon Office Building where the Florida Democrat works, one can purchase an 8-ounce bowl of ham and bean soup for two dollars or a gourmet sandwich or wrap for five dollars.

"Both of these are cheaper than I can get at delis down the street from my house," he wrote.
