President Obama, vacationing this weekend at various national parks in the West, spoke Saturday about the expansion of federal "protection" of land and waters under his administration. While boasting of the all the species his administration has added to the Endangered Species Act, the president -- reading from prepared remarks -- included one animal that doesn't exist.

"We've protected more than 265 million acres of public lands and waters," Obama said. "That's more than any administration in history."

"We've seen more victories under the Endangered Species Act than any previous administration," he continued. "From black bears in Louisiana, to sea turtles, to maht-ahn-ees in Florida," presumably attempting to say "manatees."
