Donald Trump offered praised for his campaign manager this morning after he was caught on video yesterday getting rough with a protester.

During an appearance on This Week, host George Stephanopoulos asked Trump, “Why is your campaign manager out in the crowd engaging protesters? This is the second incident in about a month –”

“Because security at the arena, the police were a little bit lax,” Trump replied. “They had signs up in that area that were horrendous, but I can’t say what they said on the signs, but the ultimate word, and it was all over the camera. And frankly, the television cameras can’t take it, and they can’t do anything about it.”

“I will give him credit for spirit,” Trump said of his manager, Corey Lewandowski.

Trump also insisted Lewandowski never touched the protester despite widely circulated video of the encounter.
