Sanders Bolts from Interview After Charged Remark About Sheriff Arpaio

‘First candidate who’s ever walked away’

Bernie Sanders Bolts From Local News Interview After Charged Remark About Sheriff Arpaio (Mediaite)

Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders left an interview as local NBC reporter Brahm Resnick was in mid-question.

Sanders had been discussing local Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, who confronted Sanders’ wife, Jane Sanders, after she made a visit to Tent City — a holding facility run by Arpaio where inmates are jailed under the Arizona sun. Sanders has called Arpaio’s behavior “outrageous and unconscionable” and told him to “Watch out.”

“Let me just tell you something,” Sanders said, “what Joe Arpaio is doing is an outrage. My wife went to look at the so-called Tent City, which is something that should not exist. The fact that he crashed her meeting is, to me, very very wrong. Not something that he should have done. Thank you very much.”
