Harry Reid in 2006: Senate Does Not Have a ‘Duty to Give Presidential Nominees a Vote’

‘It says appointment shall be made with the advice and consent of the Senate’

"Duties of the United States Senate are set forth in the Constitution of the United States. No where in that document does it say that the Senate has the duty to give presidential nominees a vote. It says appointment shall be made with the advise and consent of the Senate. It's very different that saying that every nominee receives a vote."
