Trump Spox: ‘The Trump Team Is Ready’ for a Contested Convention

‘We have some of the strongest most passionate people out there supporting Mr. Trump’

CARLSON: “Yes, it's interesting tough because it's all about timing. They said you don’t want to peak too early. You want to peak right before the moment. So if this is any indication moving towards the 15th, where Florida is going to happen or Michigan tomorrow. We have to see how this surge of other candidates moving towards Donald Trump will have an effect."
PIERSON: "Exactly."
CARLSON: "Let’s take listen to former speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. Now he is predicting we may in fact see some sort of a contested convention. I want to get your thoughts after this.”
[clip starts]
GINGRICH: “Michigan tomorrow is going to be very, very important. There is at least two polls now that show Kasich closing the gap in Michigan. And you can certainly find that as remarkable as the Trump phenomenon has been, he hasn’t — he hasn’t converted from challenger to front-runner. And as a result he is losing the late deciders.”
[clip ends]
CARLSON: “What do you make of that, Katrina. Because the late deciders have been going mostly to Marco Rubio and some to Ted Cruz.”
PIERSON: “Well, that was only recently as we saw during the SCC late deciders did break for Mr. Trump as well as in New Hampshire. But I will also say that, yes, we are getting closer to the end everything is definitely converging. Mr. Trump is still the front-runner and we may end up going to a contested convention. I hope not but we may actually do that. But the Trump team is ready for that, Gretchen. We have some of the strongest, most passionate people who are out there supporting Mr. Trump. He is the only candidate that has personally invested in the success or failure of this country. His entire empire was built right here. This is what he is going to pass on as his legacy. It’s up to him to make sure he can keep America great.”
