Carson: I’m Staying in Because My Supporters ‘Have a Right To Be Heard’

‘We have millions of social media followers and they’re saying please do not take away the choice from us’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:

KILMEADE: “I don’t have to tell you, Super Tuesday is here. Yep. Finally. And with close to 600 delegates up for grabs, tonight’s results could make or break some of the candidates’ campaigns.”
DOOCY: “Despite holding one of the last positions in the current polls, Ben Carson said he’s not going anywhere.”
EARHARDT: “Well, he join us now. Dr. Carson, thanks for being with us on a Super Tuesday.”
CARSON: “Thank you. And congratulations, Ainsley, on your new position.”
EARHARDT: “You’re so sweet. Thank you. So a lot of the voters want know what what’s going to happen today and what are your predictions and why did you decide to stay in the race?”
CARSON: “I decided to stay in the race because we have millions of social media followers and they’re saying please do not take the choice away from us. And they continue to support me financially and in every other way. I think they have a right to be heard.”
KILMEADE: “Sure.”
CARSON: “Also, bear in mind that people have asked for somebody who was o was a member of we the people. Who has an outstanding life of achievement and who thinks the way they do.”
DOOCY: “Sure. Absolutely. Dr. Ben Carson, when you look at the polls people go, well, he’s only at a certain number of percentage points. And the political operatives and the pundits on TV say Ben Carson needs to drop out. So those people can go help Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz or go somebody else. But you’re not going to do that, are you?”
CARSON: “Well, you know what the pundits say is very typical of the manipulative class. They think they have complete control and to some degree they do. But at some point the people will wake up. The question is, when is that going to happen? You know, it’s sort of like you got everything that you want right in front of you. But you don’t recognize it until it’s too late.”
KILMEADE: “So dr. Carson, last week you were on with us. We appreciate your loyalty to the show. We asked you this very question and we put the dial to your answer. I think you’ll be pleased to see the results. Let’s listen. Let’s watch.”
[clip starts]
KILMEADE: “Do you feel pressure from the establishment to push out, to emerge with one person, to go against Donald Trump?”
CARSON: “Well, I know there are some people who are saying that, but, you know, there’s a reason that we have a process like this.”
KILMEADE: “Yep.”
CARSON: “And if we — if we —  we’re going to call it after three or four caucuses why don’t we change the system, why not do it for three or four states and this’ll be it. That doesn’t make any sense really. There’s a lot of information that needs to come out. Now that the numbers are down to the smaller size maybe it’s possible we’ll start to talk about the real issues. And the real solutions to the problems of America because they are very, very substantial.”
[clip ends]
KILMEADE: “Dr. Carson, the more you talk, the more you explained yourself, the higher the line went with independents and Republicans. Your reaction?”
CARSON: “My reaction is before the barrage of attacks on me occurred, I was beating trump head to head. Beating Hillary head to head and there are those who didn’t like that very much. The people are the only ones who can rectify the situation.”
DOOCY: “Sure. The last time you reminded us of the tortoise and the hare. Good luck to you and thank you for joining us out on the campaign trail.”
