Scarborough: Romney Sounds Like He’s ‘Channeling Harry Reid’ on Trump’s Taxes

‘It almost sounded like he was channeling Harry Reid back when Harry Reid was extraordinarily unfair to Mitt Romney’

SCARBOROUGH: “...Mark Halperin, because he just threw out a lot of suggests about why Donald Trump wouldn’t release his taxes. It almost sounded like he was channeling Harry Reid back when Harry Reid was extraordinarily unfair to Mitt Romney.”
HALPERIN: “Yeah, there is that irony and — and look, Romney is in many ways because of his own experience and because he’s not a candidate, he’s a flawed messenger on this. But there are those people in the Republican party who look at what Romney did yesterday and say, well, at least he’s trying. Because, the only way to stop Donald Trump at this point, whether you’re going to stop him now or at the convention would be to get him off his message, force him to be on the defensive. And this is an issue on the merits of presidential candidates. You know, Donald Trump on the merits should be putting out his tax returns if you look at past history he should be at least considering it. And Romney’s right, you know, how hard would it be put out returns that are already filed. But I don’t think in the end, Romney alone could be the one who can get Trump off his game, it’s going to have to be the candidates because as I said and as you suggested, Romney doesn’t have the cleanest hands in the world on this issue.”
