Todd: If Clinton Wins, She’ll ‘Be the Most Battered Winner’ in Political History

‘A few more Senate seats might make her feel a little better’

SCARBOROUGH: “And it is. And you’re going to have a guy that’s going to be talking about supported Planned Parenthood, supporting universal health care, supporting all of these things that used to be the easier shots.”
SMITH: “I mean, I think it’s absolutely right that he would be no fun to run against and that the playbook against Marco Rubio sort of writes itself. You know, but you also come in with a guy who’s just less popular than I think any national candidate I’ve ever seen among Hispanics, among black people, among college educated women like that’s — I mean, right now, you can really win a Republican primary with non-college white guys. But he has got to find somebody else to like him. And right now — and I think the Clintons, you’re right, will get tangled up, this is a scenario that will be no fun for them. I think if you look at the polling, it’s hard to see how he beats her.”
SCARBOROUGH: “I was just going to say, Chuck Todd, breaking — I was just came across phone — I think the Washington Post said — just had a new poll, 80 percent of Hispanics are opposed to Donald Trump.”
SMITH: “It’s going to be the greatest Hispanic turnout in the history — it will be huge. It will be fantastic. It will be tremendous.” [crosstalk]
BRZEZINSKI: “With him and Marco, probably will be.”
SCARBOROUGH: “And 16 favorable, 80 unfavorable. Those numbers obviously have to turn around and the favorables have to double. He has to get into the 30s or there’s no way he can win.”
TODD: “He can’t win Colorado, can’t win Florida, Arizona gets put in play, Georgia gets put in play, North Carolina leans Democrat under those circumstances. The Hispanic vote, people forget — the reason North Carolina is a swing state is because of the growth of the Hispanic vote, not the growth of the African-American vote. The point is, those numbers — and that’s — that’s what makes — what — you know, when we talk about Trump versus Hillary, that is what makes the Hillary folks like OK, we know we can win, because we’ll do that. But by the way, let’s say she wins, what kind of president — she will be the most battered winner in the history of presidential politics.” [crosstalk]
SMITH: “I mean, a few more — a few more Senate seats might make her feel a little better.”
TODD: “It might, but it’s going to be —“
SCARBOROUGH: “It’s not only that. It’s also —“
TODD: “It’s the worst possible way to win.”
SCARBOROUGH: “— if you’re running against Trump you know the legacy of Bill Clinton, that he is —“
