W.H. on Ryan’s Threat to Sue over Gitmo: GOP ‘Seems To Be in a Pretty Litigious Mood’

‘It’s a plan that we believe merits serious consideration by the United States Congress’

EARNEST: "I did observe that Republicans seem to be in a pretty litigious mood these days and I guess this is just the latest installment in that. Look, if they spent just the portion of the time that they do in hiring lawyers at tax payers' expense to sue the president, to actually work with the president, to make progress on behalf of the American people, they would have a lot more to show for their work. And whether that is closing a prison at Guantanamo Bay, approving the Trans-Pacific Partnership, or even filling the vacancy at the Supreme Court, this is the basic work that the Constitution and the American people expect of the United States Senate. And it applies, at least in some of these cases, to House of Representatives as well.  But look, when it comes to our plan to close a prison at Guantanamo Bay, that's something that we have laid out yesterday and it's a plan that we believe merits serious consideration by the United States Congress."
