Trump: If Kasich and Carson Drop out It Won’t Spell Trouble for My Campaign

‘If somebody drops out I am going to get a lot of votes’

KOOIMAN: “Mr. Trump, coming out of the silver state Carson and Kasich do not get any delegates but also they have zero plans to drop out of the race. Many pundits are saying that if the field is winnowed the establishment rallies behind Rubio. That could spell trouble for you. How will your campaign strategy change if that happens?”
RUMP: “Well, I don’t think it does spell trouble. I actually think — you know I joked in my speech last night, I had 46 percent and I — I was joking that you know, we were — add up that means 54 percent on the other side. Right? And will add up — and you know, then like I said it would be 54 to 46, like I won’t get anything. Well I’m going to get a lot of votes. If somebody drops out, I’m going to get a lot of votes. As an example, if Ted Cruz drops out I’d get a lot of those votes. If any one of them drops out I will get a lot of those votes. So, I watched these pundits, I have been watching them for — for a year, but I’ve been watching these pundits and I said, well, they just add up numbers. They forget that when somebody drops out, I get a lot of those votes.”
KILMEADE: “Sure.”
TRUMP: “That I’m already, you know —“ [crosstalk]
KOOIMAN: “But you would point to — Rubio would point to your favorable/unfavorable ratings. He did that last night, he said you’ve reached your ceiling, Mr. Trump.”
TRUMP: “Well they have been saying that now, Anna, for approximately six months. I have reached my ceiling. I started at 12 and I’ve reached my ceiling. I went to 16 they said that is a ceiling, that’s the most he’s going to get. And then the national polls are even higher. You know the national polls I’m at 44.”
