Trump: ‘I Do Respect the Pope’

‘It is not really his fault, the Mexican leadership does not want to stop a lot of things from coming over the border’

[excerpt]
ROBERTS: "We want to know more about the religious leader questioning someone's faith. As your campaign said it was disgraceful. I thought you were saying good things about the Pope this morning."
TRUMP: "Well, I was. I like the Pope. But what happened is he went to Mexico and the Mexicans understand that I get it and they have been hitting us very hard at the border and hitting us very hard on trade ... They gave a pretty bad reference I think in terms of my attitude towards the border. We have to close up to border or we absolutely don't have a country. We'll close up the border, have a wall, we are going to stop the drugs from coming in and lots of other things and lots of other problems ... I do respect the Pope and certainly I do respect the position. It's not really  his fault. The Mexican leadership does not want to stop a lot of things from coming over the border."
