Clinton Camp: Hillary’s ‘Never Asked Women to Vote for Her Just Because She Is a Woman’

‘She goes [in Flint, Mich.] because she believes every child matter it this country’

MITCHELL: "Pure democracy. And Hillary Clinton's biggest hurdle here in New Hampshire could be Bernie Sanders' strength with young women voters. Joel Benenson is the senior strategist for the Clinton campaign and joins me now. What do you say to her?"
BENENSON: "Well, I think it's great that she's engaged, first, in the process. I think Hillary Clinton has never asked women to vote just because she's a woman, and I think I would say to her if you think about the future that you care about, and addressing some of the inequities and broad barriers people face in America to get ahead, economic, in terms of what holds you back on the job and not getting fair pay from some institutionalized sexism; barriers on education for people of all backgrounds where we still have very unequal education in America. But if you care about an America that's really going to create opportunity for everybody to get ahead, Hillary Clinton has been the person who has been waging that fight her whole life because she cares deeply about it. Even yesterday going to Flint, Michigan, some people said, why is she going to Flint. Michigan? She goes because she believes that every child matters in this country and when a government, whether it's a city or a state is engaging in practices that discriminate, that stigmatize people, she is going to take on those fights."
