MSNBC Analyst: You Can Only Conclude Conservatives Are ‘Against Women’

‘The conservative wing of the Republican party is ideologically against women; there’s no other way to contextualize ...’

WITT: “James, before Huckabee got to the libido part he was trying to make the point that Republicans were fighting a war for women, but that doesn't -- rather doesn't it get lost when the words libido and then Uncle Sugar come out of his mouth?”
PETERSEN: “Yeah, I mean, I’m glad you played those clips because people need to remember what the political context is within which we're judging Mike Huckabee and these comments. At this particular point, I think we have got to conclude that for the most part, the conservative wing of the Republican Party is ideologically against women. There’s no other way to contextualize the rape comments, all of the policies, trying to rollback access to health care, all the policies trying to overturn Roe v. Wade and all the comments like this one as a politician, and Huckabee is not only a politician, but he's also a news -- an entertainment news talk show guy. He’s got to be more conscientious about any time you're going to paint with a broad swath a group of people and try to demean them based upon their so-called libido. No, you've got to understand the consequences of that are going to be dire. So I don't even know if it's a war on women, Alex, I think it's just an inability to come to terms with what the real conservative ideology is with respect to women.”
