Blitzer: Christie’s ‘Powerful Speech’ Would’ve Been ‘Amazing’ but for Scandals (Mediaite)

CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer said that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s second inaugural address on Tuesday was a “powerful speech” which struck bipartisan notes and touched on policy preferences that he thought were important. Blitzer added that the speech would have been “amazing” if the governor was not contending with a series of accusations that his administration systematically intimidated political adversaries.

“I think it will help him,” Blitzer said when asked if his address would help the governor move past the coverage of the scandals involving his administration. “I think it was a powerful speech, and he delivered the proper tone.”

“It would have been a really amazing speech if he didn’t have these clouds of these current scandals in New Jersey hovering over him,” Blitzer continued. “It would have been a nice step in the direction potentially toward a 2016 presidential run.”
