W.H.: Gun Makers ‘Abdicated’ Their Restraint to Ensure Their Products Are Safe

‘The president was quite intentional about raising this issue as it relates to gun manufactured and how they have essentially abdicated their responsibility to make sure that their business practices and products are safe’

UNKNOWN REPORTER: “It was unintentional, the mention of the gun manufacturer liability issue in the op-ed as a — since that’s been an issue in the primary race, that wasn’t something — that was an intention from the White House to put in there? As a factor in the primary race?”
EARNEST: “Well, correct. The president was quite intentional about raising this issue as it relates to gun manufacturers and how they have essentially abdicated their responsibility to insure that their business practices and that their products are safe. But that was not any sort of secret or subtle signal to demonstrate a preference in the presidential primary. But — but the president takes this seriously, and, you know, any candidate running for any office is going to have to demonstrate their commitment to these common-sense measures before they can expect to get the support of the president of the United States.”
