W.H. Admits Exec Order Won’t Prevent ‘Every Single Incident of Gun Violence’

‘We are not going to be able to pass a law or take an executive action that would prevent every single incident of gun violence’

EARNEST: "Julie, do you want to start?"
PACE: "Thanks, Josh. So to start with one of the things that the president is getting under way to speak, meeting with Loretta Lynch this afternoon, to talk about gun control [indecipherable]. Is it your expectation that he will come out of this meeting ready to announce what he is planning to do, or do you expect that to be an announcement later this week?"
EARNEST: "I would anticipate that the president would have an announcement quite soon where he will discuss some steps that this administration has concluded, he has concluded, are within his executive authority that would keep guns out of the hands of the people who should not have them. And there are common sense steps that he can take using his authority that do not undermine the constitutional rights of law abiding Americans, but we have to do something in this country to address the consequences of Congress' failure to act. And, look, there are more than 30 thousands Americans who die every year as a result of a gun. And we are not going to be able to pass a law or take an executive action that would prevent ever single incident of gun violence. But if there is something that we can do to prevent even one, why wouldn't we do it? That's the president's mindset as he enters this meeting with attorney general and as he prepares to make some announcement."
