CBS News: Not Enough Young People Are Enrolling in ObamaCare

CBS: Young Americans Are Not Enrolling In Obamacare (Washington Free Beacon)

Citing articles by the New York Times, the Washington Post, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal, CBS confirmed that health care enrollments among young adults are less than expected by the Obama Administration.

Major Garrett spoke with CBS’s Charlie Rose to discuss the dismal enrollment numbers Tuesday.

Rose said that 2.2 million Americans enrolled in Obamacare through the end of December. Only 24 percent of those enrolled are aged 18-34. In order for Obamacare to successfully function, 40 percent of the health exchange’s enrollees must be in the young adult age bracket (18-34), as the program needs younger, healthier Americans to pay into the exchange. The Obama administration says they have “just enough” young adults in the system for “Obamacare to survive economically,” Garrett added.
