Santorum on Gun Violence: ‘Gun Is Not the Problem’

SANTORUM: “I actually — I’m doing a lot of things. I’m doing a lot of thinks about trying to solve gun violence and that primarily focus isn’t on the family. I mean, if you look at —“
BRZEZINSKI: “Really? Like being against people on the terror watch list — not being able to buy a gun?”
SANTORUM: “If you look at the folks who are causing crime in America, almost every single one of them and I think Chuck [indecipherable] pointed this out that 85-90 percent of men in prison grew up without a father in the home. So, you want to get at the real root problem here. You’ve got a break down of society basically based upon on the breakdown of a family. To Point to an anonymity object is a ridiculous thing. I mean, the idea that the gun is the problem here —“
BRZEZINSKI: “Let’s talk about the white men.”
SANTORUM: “— it’s not the gun — is not the problem. The problem is that people are being raised in a violent society without proper guidance and leadership in their home. And that’s a fundamental problem that I have in fact, when working off for quiet sometime.”
