Judge Napolitano: Climate Deal Will Only ‘Destroy Jobs’

‘It’s going to destroy jobs’

VARNEY: “President Obama signed the climate agreement. It aimed at reducing carbon emissions — got it. All rise, Napolitano is here. Your judgment, please, on this deal.”
NAPOLITANO: “I think it’s a political goal by the president —“ [crosstalk]
VARNEY: “No, really?” (Laughter)
NAPOLITANO: “It has no force of law whatsoever, unless and until it is ratified as a treaty by the United States Senate, which it will not be for that remainder of his term in office. It is really just a bunch of anti-business lefties patting themselves on the shoulder saying see what we can agree on.”
VARNEY: “I think we agree entirely.”
NAPOLITANO: “Do they really think it’s going to add jobs? It’s going to destroy jobs. Do they really think it’s going to help the poor? It’s going to undermine the ability of those who create [jobs] to have the economy trickle down into ranks of the poor.”
VARNEY: “What bugs me is, Congress gets no say in this, none.”
NAPOLITANO: “Well —“
VARNEY: “Because, is not a treaty, so it doesn’t go before Congress to —“ [crosstalk]
NAPOLITANO: “And it’s not a law. But really the president can do what he wants politically, and Congress gets no say in it. It imposes no obligation on anybody in America. It’s some aspirational goal for 50 years from now. Fifty years from now is —“
VARNEY: “No.”
NAPOLITANO: “— when they think this is going to have an effect on the climate.”
