Bozell Slams Media for Trump Obsession While Ignoring Obama’s Reaction to a Terror Attack

VARNEY: "It is not just broadcast media that’s jumping all over Trump. Look at this. This is the Daily News, New York Daily News. Front page. Depicting Trump cutting the head off the Statue of Liberty. Come on in Brent Bozell. Media Research Center founder. You saw that Daily News front page. What do yo make of it?" 
BOZELL: "Well, you know, if the New York Daily News can do that, and if they can call him a racist, then why not call the New York Daily News a religiously bigoted newspaper? Because they have clearly shown that bigotry towards Christians, towards people of faith. You’ll never hear them do that. But everybody will jump all over Donald Trump for what he said. Look, let’s be straight about this: What Donald Trump said was reckless. It’s even stupid. Do I believe it’s racist? In an intellectual way, yes. But does that make him a racist? No. It makes him a reckless person who we ought to think twice about before electing president, I guess. But, you know, you know, look at what he said. He said, “We stop it will be get our hands around it. Well, that could be three minutes later. Who knows what he is talking about. I don’t think he knows what he’s talking about. Here’s the interesting thing about it. Is it important? Does it rise to the level of the importance, of the attention it receiving? Consider this: The president of the United States spoke on Sunday night as the Commander in chief addressing the second most important, the second biggest assault on American soil since 9/11. Okay. What was the press’s reaction so it? Since then, they have given him—  are you ready for this— three minutes of coverage to a national address that said nothing. Compare this now to Donald Trump. As of this morning, and we’re still counting, 105 minutes to Donald Trump. So, the numbers, 105, Trump. Three commander in chief. Three in commander-in-chief."
VARNEY: "But the elites, they are going after Trump. Now, I define elites as the media, entertainment, all kinds, the elites. They are going after Trump. That’s the divide. Trump saying what people think. The elites going after him. I mean, that’s the divide here, isn’t it?"
BOZELL: "Yeah. I mean, he gives them an opportunity to go against conservatives, to go against Republicans. They look for that opening and they found that opening in him. Well, let’s also face something else: We a know it to be true. It sells advertising and it gets them attention and it gets CNN press and it gets ABC press. It gets Fox press. It gets everybody attention to go after Donald Trump and he lives all of this kind of silliness. And, I think, at the end of the day, it is silliness because it is so reckless. It should be reported.  But put it into it’s proper perspective and I think it’s much more important, much more serious to look at what the President of the United States said and his reaction to a terrorist attack and how on national televison he managed to say absolutely nothing."
