NBA Commissioner David Stern: Dennis Rodman Is ‘Blinded by the Payday’

‘Dennis will be Dennis, but I think there’s a lot at stake here in terms of a country that has––a very dangerous country’

NBA Commissioner: We’re Not Involved in Dennis Rodman Trip, He’s Been ‘Blinded by the Payday’ (Mediaite)

Dennis Rodman and a group of other ex-NBA players are in North Korea, but current NBA Commissioner David Stern wants to make it completely clear that his organization has nothing to do with the unsanctioned trip. He said that Rodman and the others were “blinded by the payday,” which is why they’ve walked into such a dangerous nation.

Stern appeared on CNN Tuesday afternoon to react to the bizarre trip, and wasted no time in bringing up Rodman’s “off-kilter” outburst earlier in the day. He said, “Dennis will be Dennis, but I think there’s a lot at stake here in terms of a country that has––a very dangerous country.”

Asked point-blank why they would go, Stern said, “They were blinded by the payday. I don’t know what else to say or how directly to say it. That’s all.”
