Obama: ‘I Am Calling on the EU to Finally’ Start Sharing Airline Passenger Data

"There is also a growing recognition among European nations that they need to ramp up additional efforts to prevent the flow of foreign terrorist fighters. As part of that, I am calling on the European Union to finally implement the agreement that has been long in the works that would require airlines to share passenger information so we can do more to stop foreign terrorist fighters from entering our country’s undetected. I’m prepared to send teams of our experts to work on this with our European partners to make sure we're redoubling our efforts together. Regarding the broader crisis in Syria — President Holland and I agreed that the Russian strikes against the moderate opposition only bolsters the Assad regime whose brutality  helped to fuel the rise of ISIL.”
