Morell: Mali Hotel Attack Reminds Us al Qaeda ‘Just as Dangerous’ than ISIS

‘It’s a very important reminder that al Qaeda remains out there and in many ways just as dangerous, if not more dangerous, than ISIS’

MORELL: "I think four things have happened in the last week. One is, we have firmed up that the attacking in Paris was indeed directed by the ISIS leadership in Raqqa. So, it’s the first directed attack in the West. Two, we have firmed up that a bomb did indeed bring down the Russian airliner over the Sinai. Three, we had a terrorist attack in Bamako, Mali, by al Qaeda. And it’s a very important reminder that al Qaeda remains out there and in many ways just as dangerous, if not more dangerous, than ISIS. And, four, we have what’s ongoing in Brussels today, which is very clear to me that this was going to be another attack by the same group, a similar kind of attack. They raided an apartment this morning, found explosives, found weapons. So, I think that is what we’re looking at, is a possible wave of attacks in Europe."
