Lewis: ‘I’m Relieved’ Gen. Hayden Thinks Carson Has ‘Right Instincts’ on Foreign Policy

‘I’m heartened a little bit by the facts that general Hayden believes that even though he’s not an expert on foreign policy or national security, he at least has the right instincts’

BRZEZINSKI: "We’ll start off with Matt Lewis. Your thoughts, Matt?
LEWIS: "First, what a great interview, first of all. It’s a great thing about live TV, you never know what is going to be said. I was surprised by what was a little bit short of a ringing endorsement, but still pretty darn good. I think, second, first of all, it’s obviously a good thing that Ben Carson is talking to people, like General Hayden --"
BRZEZINSKI: "Right."
LEWIS: "--I think that’s a very good sign."
BRZEZINSKI: "That’s a good sign."
LEWIS: "And I guess the third thing would be, look, it may be interesting that Ben Carson who has never been elected to anything, who has no governing experience is leading in the polls. But the facts are that he is a front-runner now and I’m heartened a little bit by the facts that General Hayden believes that even though he’s not an expert on foreign policy or national security, he at least has the right instincts. I’m a little bit relieved to hear that, frankly."
