Gen. Hayden: ‘Air Strikes Without Ground Power Is a Lot Like Casual Sex’

‘It offers gratification without commitment’

DEUTSCH: “General Hayden, one our presidential candidates Donald Trump leased his strategy for ISIS last night, I’d like you to comment at to his strategy was — we’re going to bomb the crap out of them. Can you comment on that in-depth strategy?” (Laughter)
HAYDEN: “Yeah. Well, actually we seem to be doing a bit of that.” [crosstalk]
BRZEZINSKI: “That’s what we’re doing, yeah.”
HAYDEN: “I was just reading that we had B-1 strikes on the ISIS controlled oil fields, late last month. And, in a strange way, ISIS is a state, not just a movement. And so, we can punish them with air strikes, but you know, I said about year and a half ago that air strikes without ground power is a lot like casual sex. It offers gratification without commitment. DEUTSCH: “Sign me up for that.”
BRZEZINSKI: “Oh, my God.”
