Cruz: GOP ‘Getting in Bed with Reid and Obama to Bankrupt Our Kids’

HEMMER: “Let me move through a number of other issues here quickly, OK. On the budget deal last week, you say it’s a slap in the face to conservatives. Outgoing Speaker John Boehner said that comment is total nonsense. You want to return serve on the comment?”
CRUZ: “Well, you know, it’s interesting so — so he is found of tossing insults my way. You know, he’s used some colorful epithets in my direction. But, you noticed in his response there is no substance. When I said it’s a slap in the face I laid out why. Because this deal jacks up our national debt by $85 billion. It shattered the budget caps. It funds all of Obama’s priorities as it gives Obama trillions more in debt.”
HEMMER: “But he would argue —“ [crosstalk]
CRUZ: “And he doesn’t respond to any of that substance, he just tosses an insult.”
HEMMER: “He did respond. He said there is real [indecipherable] reform. He said there is more money for the military and all the spending he argues is offset with reductions elsewhere in the budget.”
CRUZ: “Except and I gave a long speech on the Senate floor last week. The spending cuts are all phantom and may — may believe they all happen allegedly in 10 years, and it’s just a budget game. Everyone looking at it knows, we’re not going to cut $30 billion ten years from now, and that’s how they pretend to pay for it.  Here is a simple stat that is stunning; when Harry Reid and the Democrats controlled the Senate, they pushed through the budget deal that shattered the budget caps by $63 billion. When republicans have a majority in both houses of Congress, we shattered the budget caps by $85 billion and additional $22 billion. And it is wrong. When each Republican leadership getting in bed with Barack Obama and Harry Reid to bankrupt our kids and grandkids. And Bill, that’s why people are so frustrated with Washington. And that’s why in this presidential race they’re looking for a proven conservative who has a record of standing up, not just the Democrats, but to leaders in our own party and fighting for the American people that’s why our campaign is surging so powerful.”
