During this weekend’s broadcast of the 2013 Kennedy Center Honors, Fox’s Bill O’Reilly surprised many by showing up to pay tribute to jazz legend Herbie Hancock and later shaking hands with frequent butt of his culture warrior remarks, rapper Snoop Dogg.

As we reported earlier this month, O’Reilly was selected to introduce a tribute video he narrated about the life and career of the award-winning jazz pianist Hancock. In attendance were dozens of cultural icons, including honorees like Billy Joel and Shirley MacLaine, as well as President Obama and wife Michelle.

Upon taking the podium, O’Reilly smiled and told the crowd: “I know, I’m surprised too.” The audience laughed and applauded, and CBS video shows the president and his wife chuckling while looking over at Hancock who was curled up in laughter.
