WH Adviser: Every Year, There Will Be ‘Transitional Problems’ With ObamaCare

‘I hope it won’t lead to any horror stories tomorrow’

WELKER: “And Phil, I’ve been speaking to officials within the insurance industry. They say they are still dealing with, wrestling with problems with enrollment applications. Do you on this day have a sense of how large the percentage of flawed enrollment applications are? And could that create some horror stories come January 1st and the days leading?”
SCHILIRO: “I hope it won't lead to more horror stories tomorrow, but again, every year there are going to be some transitional problems. That’s why we've set up the toll-free number. We’re working very closely with the insurers. They’ve done an extraordinary job because so many people are interested in getting health insurance to be prepared. So if someone is in the system, if they've gone through the paper work and for some reason the insurer doesn't have it, if they call that number we'll be able to identify them.”
WELKER: “Do you have a sense of the percentage, Phil? Do you have a sense of the percentage of error rate at this point?”
SCHILIRO: “I cannot give you a percentage. What I can tell you is the population that people have been concerned about have all been contacted. They've been contacted by the federal government; they've been contacted by the insurers, in some cases two or three times. So we've done everything we can to let people know that there could be a problem and we're working with the insurers to make sure we can smooth out those difficulties tomorrow.”
