Steve Schmidt: ‘You Can’t Discount the Possibility’ Trump Could Be President

‘His numbers are growing and strengthening over time’

SCARBOROUGH: "Steve Schmidt, a man that run Arnold Schwarzenegger's campaigns. Steve Schmidt, do you believe that Donald Trump can be the president of the United States?"
SCHMIDT: "Democrats have enormous structural advantages in the general election. If you look just the states, they won six out of the last six elections, 224 electoral votes; five out of six last elections, it goes 282. If you look inside Hilary Clinton's numbers, the way that one unelectable candidate wins the presidency against another unelectable candidate regarding trust and character numbers. In a two party the way that you win the presidency is by being a nominee of one of the two parties. So if you are down to one of the finalists, anything can happen. Is he a probable candidate? No, he isn't. But can he be a Republican nominee? Do we live in a time when trust has completely collapsed in every institution. Is he a brilliant communicator? Has he shown a mastery of the details of the campaign process and the ability to connect, to communicate, but most importantly the ability to grow. His numbers inside are growing and strengthening over time. And that's why you can't discount the possibility if he's the nominee that he could be elected president."
