Ted Cruz: #BlackLivesMatter Embraces, Celebrates ‘The Murder of Police Officers’ (Mediaite)

Ted Cruz said today that the #BlackLivesMatter movement not only embraces but “celebrates” the murder of police officers.

The Texas senator was campaigning in Iowa today when a ThinkProgress reporter asked him if he’d be willing to sit down with #BlackLivesMatter leaders.

Cruz said he’s happy to meet with anyone, but doesn’t like the “disturbing” anti-police rhetoric from the movement, even saying they’re “literally suggesting and embracing and celebrating the murder of police officers.”

He said that the “vilification of law enforcement” under the Obama administration is actually dangerous to black lives because if cops are afraid to do their cops, there’s less policing in areas where African-Americans need it most.
