Carson: Serving as Trump’s VP May Not Be the Best Use of My Time and Influence

‘That would involve a lot of negotiations, you know, compatibility issues … I would have to make a decision whether that was really the best use of my time and my influence’

MITCHELL: "Want to ask you about Donald Trump, the other person leading in the polls--you and he tied in some places. If it turned out that Donald Trump were to get the nomination, would you serve as his vice president?"
CARSON: "I don't know. I can't answer that question because that would involve a lot of negotiation, compatibility issues, and I would have to make a decision whether that was really the best use of my time and my influence; would it be better to be able to be completely independent. So all of those things would have to be answered and they can't be answered now."
MITCHELL: "Another hypothetical, should you win the nomination, would you consider Donald Trump if he were the next vote getter? Would you have an obligation almost to the party to consider him as your running mate? Is he qualified to be President of the United States?"
CARSON: "I would consider everybody but again, it becomes a compatibility issue. Those things obviously would have to be discussed in some detail and those negotiations have not occurred yet. So you can't answer that question."
