Clinton: ‘Epidemic of Gun Violence’ Knows No Boundaries or Limits of Any Kind

‘How many people have to die before we actually act?’

"This epidemic of gun violence knows no boundaries, knows no limits of any kind. And when this happens, people are quick to say that they offer their thoughts and prayers. That's not enough. How many people have to die before we actually act? Before we come together as a nation? (Applause)

We need to go back in with all of our hearts, working, not just in Washington, but from the grassroots up, demand that we have universal background checks. And we have to also -- (Applause) -- we have to close the loopholes. You know we've got what's called "the gun show loophole." And we've got what's now being called "the Charleston loophole".

We haven't done what we need to do to try to make any of us, but particularly our children safe. So that's what's behind the proposals that I'm making. They're not new. There's nothing, you know, unique about them other than the fact that I am so determined, we're going to do everything we possibly can to get this done and --" (Applause)
