Reuters: Syrians Protest Against Russian Air Strikes

‘The air strikes are hitting country sides where there are no IS fighters’

JACKSON (voice-over): “Chanting ‘the people demand the fall of the regime’, Syrians in rebel-held Aleppo protest against Russian air strikes on Friday. The Russian defense ministry has said its jets have hit Islamic State targets in the Aleppo area using weapons with pinpoint accuracy. Fighters from the Free Syria Army insurgent group say their people have also been hit.”

ABU SAMER (as interpreted): "Civilian areas are being targeted, not IS areas, by the air strikes that are hitting the northern countryside where there are no IS fighters."

JACKSON (voice-over): “The United States and its allies have accused Russia of hitting insurgent groups arrayed against Syrian President Bashar al Assad, including the Free Syrian Army. According to the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 39 civilians and 14 fighters, mostly Islamic State militants, had been killed since Russian air strikes began on Wednesday.”
