Pressley: The Crown Act Isn’t Just About Hair, It’s About White Supremacy

‘I know everyone keep saying that we’re in the midst of a national reckoning’

EXCERPT:

PRESSLEY: “One person across the aisle referred to this as the ‘Bad Hair Bill,' which very much makes the case for the very think that we’re talking about. So, the thing is that people get it wrong when they think that the Crown Act is just about her. The Crown Act is about white supremacy. How I show up in the world is disruptive in and of itself. 7 million people living with alopecia, disproportionately black women, I have alopecia totalis, and, you know, I thank God for my husband who in the midst of that, all that loss, reminded me that I don’t need hair to rock a crown.”
